Fire protection for the building starts at the planning stage. Reducing the risk of fire in areas with significant human traffic such as hospitals, schools, sports arena, mass transit terminals, and high-rise buildings has become increasingly complex and challenging.
However, it is important to understand the difference between fire rating and fire retardancy. Any product can have some degree of fire-rating but that does not necessarily make it fire retardant. It might have some kind of resistance to fire in a certain way. Therefore, it is important to look at the both the factors together and other considerations which influence the performance of a fire retardant cladding solution.
Structure of fire-rated ACP
The fire-rated ACP consists of a specially formulated mineral core which contains 70% minerals- Aluminium Tri-hydroxide(ATH), and Magnesium di-hydroxide (MDH) and 30% polymer sandwiched between 2 aluminium sheets. The structure of the panel is as follows:
- Protective Film
- Aluminium Coil
- Mineral Core
- Aluminium Coil
- Service Coat
Alstrong India is regarded as one of the most authentic sources of fire rated ACPs. Their fire-rated ACP can resist fire for up to 2 hours. The main difference between two ACP sheets are the core materials. The core of the normal ACP is LDPE/HDPE minerals whereas the fire-rated ACP is made of the specially formulated fire resistant mineral core. In addition to this, Alstrong’s fire-rated ACP has passed the requisite standards set by ASTM(USA), which is accepted worldwide as a quality fire-resistant ACP material.
Features of Alstrong’s fire rated ACP
